Pine Creek Wastewater Plant
The first phase of the Pine Creek Wastewater Plant, operational in 2008, will have a wastewater capacity of 100 million cubic metres per day. When fully developed, the plant will be large enough to meet Calgary’s needs for the next 50 years and more. The Pine Creek facility will alleviate existing pressures being placed on the two current wastewater treatment facilities that serve Calgarians – Bonnybrook and Fish Creek.
As the area surrounding the site continues to grow and develop, so do the number of people requiring water and the treatment of water. It is an essential service that requires appropriate facilities. Building the new facility will not only contribute to wastewater treatment capacity, but will allow new development to proceed.
